Waste free lunch update

JME has participated in Lunch Room Waste Audits the past two years to measure the total weight of food, liquids, and containers disposed of on one day in the lunchroom. The goal is to try to come up with ways to reduce that amount of waste.  The Green Team has added signs to remind students to take just one napkin, encouraged students to take only as much as they can eat, to bring food in reusable containers, and to take cold lunch leftovers home for an after school snack.  The lower weights of waste shown below are impressive!  Keep up the great work!

The Green Team thanks you, and the planet thanks you too!

2022-2023 school year - one day lunchroom waste audit total = 124.1 pounds of waste

2023-2024 school year - one day lunchroom waste audit total = 95.8 pounds of waste (28.3 pounds LESS  than 2022-2023, when the school had 25 students MORE this year!!!)

Waste Free Lunch Week April 22-26, 2024 -Average of 70.9 pounds of waste daily for the week, with Monday as the best day with only 60.8 pounds, and 4th grade with the very lowest waste total of 54.4 pounds for the whole week, earning them a Free Choice Day in PE.  Congratulations to everyone for their contributions to these great accomplishments!!!  Keep up the good work!
